About the team:
The Senior Structural Engineer will be a part of a team EITs, Design Engineers, and drafters at Nordmin Engineering. The team works collaboratively on projects ranging from conceptual through to construction, with a focus on completing design work for mining and heavy industrial projects. The successful applicant will act as a leader, guiding and mentoring junior staff while collaborating with senior management to achieve business objectives.
What you’ll do:
As the Senior Structural Engineer at Nordmin Engineering, the successful applicant will play a critical role in leading both focused structural and multidisciplinary technical teams in completing design work for mining and industrial projects. This will involve collaborating with other engineers and drafting teams to develop and implement projects from conceptualization through to construction. The Senior Structural Engineer will also be responsible for providing technical oversight, input, and mentorship for structural staff, as well as leading the development of structural designs, calculations, analysis, and evaluation of seismic design. Additionally, the Senior Structural Engineer will ensure proper communication between disciplines and with the management team, undertake site visits and assessments, and work closely with clients to ensure the full and proper delivery of services. This is a leadership role that requires the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, while also demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines.

Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer in Canada and/or USA
10 years of engineering experience
5 years of experience in a Structural Engineering (Focused in Heavy Industrial)
Knowledge of structural theory, building codes and design standards (concrete, structural steel, wood, masonry)
Working knowledge of structural analysis and design software
Project Management experience
Willingness to mentor and develop junior staff
Ability take responsibility for engineering works
Minimum Fundamental Skills:

Strong organizational and time management
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Strong verbal and written communication
Committed to continual improvement and learning
Bonus qualifications & Experience:
Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field
15+ years of experience in engineering design and management in structural systems for industrial applications
Working knowledge of S-FRAME
Experience with mining projects
Experience with pulp and paper projects
Experience with construction specifications and contract administration
Experience with leading large-scale projects
Experience with managing budgets and resources
Experience with business development and client relations
